Livingstones Restaurant Reviews

  1. Jane Says:

Well, I took my Brother and his wife just in from the States to Livingstones. We were served by someone who knew nothing about beverages when asked what beers were available “I don’t know” was the reply. When asked what vegetable tart was the young lady went to the kitchen to ask the chef and guess what she came back with its a vegetable pie!!! Well we could have guessed that!! My brother ordered Steak and Ale pie with veg – firstly the pie arrives and the waitress slopped the gravy all over the place – the veg had been microwaved and was quite frankly disgusting!!!! There was at least three bit of meet in the pie. :( I and his wife had the scampi tails – very large portions of luke warm chips – the peas were grim to say the least the scampi was moderately ok. We paid £33 for the priviledge of this meal which was very poor. When we came to pay using a card which was displayed on the door as accepted – guess what – it wasn’t so my brother had to use the last of his cash. The person who took the money did not even bother to give us our change!!!! My review is to give this establishment a very wide berth.

  3. Lucie Says:

Visited Kessingland on the 20th November and stopped in at Livingstones for a carvery. The food was excellent, £8.50 per head with an extensive range of veg to choose from. We found the staff to be very polite and helpful and were informed the business had recently been taken over and they had 3 new chefs now in the kitchen. All the desserts were homemade and there were plenty to choose from and an excellent new menu on offer throughout the week. We will definitely be going back again when we are in the area and are happy to recommend this establishment to all of our friends.

Went to Livingstones on Saturday as new management has taken over and as a local thought I would give it a try – I went with my two daughters.
Plate was handed to me with a serviette – I don’t know why, the plate was cold. The very poor selection of vegetables looked as they had been there all week, as did the “salad bar”. Broad beans grey and unshucked, roast potatoes hard and burnt, parsnips cubed and soggy, pease definatley NOT pea green!! Price wise if they are to compete with Toby and Castle Carvery they need to provide excellent quality and exceptional service in ambient surroundings – none of this applies. The inside decor had not been revamped since the new owners took over and the carpet looks as dirty as it ever did. I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK and will advise others not to bother trying it.

  7. David Bowen Says:

We were staying at Kessingland Beach for a late summer long weekend break on the Sunday we decided to try Livingstones for the carvery they were very busy and we hadn’t booked but they quickly found a table suitable for three, one being in a wheelchair.

We didn’t have starters but all three of us had the eat as much as you can carvery with a choice of meats and good choice of vegetables we also had a drink each along with a dessert and coffee’s to follow and the whole bill came to just £48 which I think is great value we will be back as soon as possible.

Staying in Kessingland for a few days, we ate at ‘the other end’ of Church Road the first evening and had a dreadful meal, with dreadful service. Second and third night, we had a really good carvery meal at the Livingstones Restaurant. The food was good, the staff friendly and helpful and excellent value for money.

Sunday, 11/11/2012, 1.00 pm, 4 of us, Very good carvery, 4 meats on, loads of variety of veg, & salad, even sausages, NO faults with the food,
    Staff very helpful & attentive,
Can not comment on the desserts, too full of carvery.
Would we go back, YES, Next time, mid week senior citizen price looks good.
Don’t expect Jamie style flowered up cooking, just good honest home cooked grub, at a sensible price.

very dissapointed i can see why the local people say it is rubbish the service was awful it was like my family an i were a inconveinence to the staff, they would much rather gossip at the bar then serve the 3 tables that were in at the time.the food was poor and not value for money it all looked and tasted like it had been put in the microwave to reheat from the week before I will not be visting here ever again

Have had a meal at livingstones today. We had starters from the menu then the carvery and a sweet. The starters were delicious – there were three of us,we all had different starters and could fault none of them. The carvery was one of the best we have had recently with generous servings of well cooked meats and a good variety of vegetables. The sweets were all good too. Our waitress was very polite and helpful. A very good meal and good value. We will be back.
