The O2 has played host to the biggest names in music and entertainment, from Kylie Minogue to Michael MacIntyre, but this March it will be filled with the voices of Kessingland Primary School Choir.

The Kessingland youngsters will join school choirs from schools all over the country as they come together to perform at the Young Voices concert, which is billed as the largest school choir concert in the world.
Sarah Smith, year three teacher and music co-ordinator at the school, told the Lowestoft Journal: “It is a chance ?for our pupils to work with other schools and have a memorable experience of performing ?at the O2 arena. They have worked really hard and it is nice to see it repaid with this opportunity.”
Kessingland Parish Council is supporting the choir, and has donated £250 towards travel costs. Further fundraising activities will be organised by the school, so look out for opportunities to help out.
This year’s Young Voices concert marks the 15th anniversary of the event, and will also feature 10 year old Britain’s Got Talent star Connie Talbot.

Kessingland is the place to be on the Suffolk Coast for 2012
No the olympics have not changed host county to Suffolk, although the long jump wouldn’t want for sand. Kessingland and the surrounding Suffolk coastal areas have been named as a hotspot for living. Estate Agents are expecting a big demand for coastal properties next years and are preparing with Estate Agency Software.
It is something that is designed to make agents jobs easier, its that simple. From selling the property and managing paperwork to create visual sales materials its proving a huge help already.
Small companies all over Suffolk are looking at easier ways to run their business. Having a full software package is the perfect way to do this, as Estate Agents are already beginning to take advantage and it seems that even hotel companies in Great Britain are getting in on the act, websites such as Great Britain Hotels display this. Watch this space!

Since its closure, Kessingland’s Hollies campsite has stood derelict, waiting for new investment and new ideas. But now, thanks to new owners the Beeston Group, it looks like there’s a bright future in store for this sadly neglected seaside treasure.
The Beeston Group hopes to revolutionise the site, by building up to 140 specially designed wig-wams, yurts and other exotic semi-permanent tents, all of which will feature iron beds and other comforts designed to take advantage of the new ‘glamping’ craze, which sees traditional camping glammed up into a sumptuous indulgent break.
The council have held meetings with the Beeston Group and it’s understood that plans are moving forward as local councillors greet news of a new holiday boom with anticipation.
The redevelopment of the Hollies will also lead to a range of new facilities for holidaymakers and Kessingland residents alike, from nature trails and cheap cycle rentals to swimming pools and bars, and it is hoped that the site will create up to 60 jobs in the local community.

The financial crisis was supposed to decimate the property market, but estate agents are finding that buyers are still out there, and Kessingland’s attraction to families and first time buyers is holding strong.
Although things are far better than was feared a couple of years ago, many agents are still having a tough time staying ahead of the competition, and are looking for ways to bring their businesses into the new era and retain their edge. Lettings Software is proving to be a vital lifeline for struggling agencies, with intuitive systems for making the most of social media and iPhone app technology included out of the box.

You might expect to find only snowmen and christmas lights in your garden over the festive season, but one Kessingland resident got the surprise of a lifetime after discovering an unexploded World War II artillery shell beneath a flower bed.
A bomb disposal team investigated the find and identified it as a 13lb shell of the type used by the Kessingland Coastal battery during the war.
Luckily they discovered that the shell was empty and contained neither explosives nor a detonator, and have taken it away for further analysis, much to the relief of the High Street resident.
As an important strategic coastal town, Kessingland was well defended during the war, and East Anglia is still dotted with tank defenses and pillboxes designed to repel an invading army.

In this stormy economic climate many aspiring sailors are being forced to remain landlocked, but Kessingland Sea Sailing Club is one of a growing number of sailing clubs to offer a low-cost alternative to owning or renting a boat.
The Kessingland Sea Sailing Club owns two sea-going sailing yachts – a Contessa 32 moored in Lowestoft, and a Bavaria 40, which is currently based in Turkey. Members of the club can use these boats by arrangement, and make a contribution to Club funds.
This offers a cost-effective way to get out on the sea, and allows the club to offer a comprehensive training programme for those who haven’t quite mastered all their knots.
The club was originally a dinghy racing society which was based on Kessingland beach. In a bold move which is paying dividends for members, the clubhouse was sold off and the proceeds used to purchase the club’s two ocean-going racing yachts.
So if you’re a keen sailor and economic considerations are keeping you on shore, the Kessingland Sea Sailing Club might be able to help you get your anchors aweigh.

Kessingland, as Britain’s largest village, has always had a healthy property market, but local agencies are facing increasing competition from national firms with huge marketing budgets and hi-tech online services, but what can be done to close the gap and rejuvenate local businesses?
New Lettings Software from CFP is proving to be a vital tool for struggling agencies to compete with the big boys.
By allowing simple, out-of-the-box access to cutting edge tools like social media marketing, web-based portfolios, virtual tours and even smartphone apps, smaller local agencies can level the playing field.
Since local firms can provide a more personal touch than a faceless national corporation, estate agency software might give local agents the crucial edge that they need in order to survive.

The Suffolk Coastal District Council have approved plans that will tackle erosion and flooding until 2105 in areas of Kessingland and other parts of the Suffolk Coast
Yet the proposals that have been put forward will not save every part of the Suffolk coast as plans for the entire land line would be much too expensive. The approved plans will see the maintenance of Sea defences at Lowestoft, Southwold and Felixstowe with the main area of Kessingland, along with the A12, also be defended.
About 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land between Kessingland and Southwold would be left to the mercy of the sea.
Yet Andy Smith, Conservative deputy leader of Suffolk Coastal District Council told the BBC: “The key aspects are that virtually the entire populated part of the coast will be protected.”
Coast line erosion in Suffolk is a subject that is constantly in question and will not go away, so it is good to see the council putting plans in place to defend Kessingland and surrounding areas of the ever popular Suffolk coast.
